Original Oil Painting by our very own Yvonne Manipon! (School Program and Volunteer Coordinator)
Raised in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest, Yvonne Manipon completed her Master in Arts Administration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Oregon, where she majored in Fine and Applied Arts and Art History. Currently, Yvonne lives and works in Honolulu, Hawaii as Program and Volunteer Coordinator for the Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives.
Over the past 18 years, Yvonne has lived in both Hawaii and the Pacific NW where she has been painting landscapes, investigating the unique quality of light, textures, movement and atmosphere in each region. All of her paintings are created on location “en plein air”. Painting outdoors is invigorating and challenging for her. She enjoys the solitude, sounds, sites, fragrance, and drama of the outdoors. She is driven by the challenge of capturing directly onto canvas the essence of what inspires her.
“Form, color, light, textures and atmosphere found in nature are my inspiration. The ever-changing sky-, sea- and land-scapes are a challenge for me to capture the moment and translate the reality of what I see.”
