Description
In honor of Bicentennial events commemorating the first printing and the beginning of the printed Hawaiian language, Curator of Public Programs Mike Smola created a new typeset pulled on our Ramage press January 7, 2022. The text reads “January 7 1822 to January 7 2022, Bicentennial of Printing” and has a print of the first page of the Hawaiian Primer as well as a map of Honolulu in 1822. Preparing the frisket and setting the type with 2 wood blocks and just 48 letters and numbers took over 25 hours. We are excited to offer this 11×17 unframed limited edition numbered print to you.
