Traditionally, we call the roll of EACH family in order of arrival by Company, counting every individual enrolled in HMCS who is present. This year, type into the “Chat” the names of the family members gathered at your site. Be sure to include your specific ancestors’ names – JW Smith, L Smith, M Smith, or AB Smith, for example.  In the Chat, then, we’ll have a full list of everyone who attended.

When it is time for Roll Call, we will use Zoom Polls to “vote” for your family. This will allow one vote per Zoom link. We’ll have the fun of seeing how many households are present from each family in real time, and we can follow up after the meeting with the exact number of attendees from each missionary family, as counted in the Chat.

The Nominating Committee has recommended, and the full Hawaiian Mission Children’s Society Board of Trustees has affirmed, the nominations of these individuals to serve 3 year terms as Trustees, beginning April 24, 2021:

New Nominees to the Board

Lucy Alexander

As a missionary descendant of the Alexander, Bond, Bishop and Baldwin families, I honor the Hawaiian Mission Houses legacy rooted deeply in my family. I just retired from a second career teaching social studies to English learners at a public middle school. Before teaching, I had a career at Frito-Lay Hawaii in marketing and sales.  My educational background includes a BA in Economics, Master’s in Business Administration and a Post-Bac in Secondary Social Studies Education. My other volunteer interests are as a Girl Scout troop leader and National Geographic educator. I reside in Honolulu with my daughter, Emily Black.

Joseph LaRoche III

I am a 6th generation Pioneer Company missionary descendant of Dr. Thomas Holman and Lucia Ruggles-Holman. It is my distinct honor to continue their legacy by serving on the Board of Trustees. I retired from my working career six years ago as Director of Operations with United Health Care. Past volunteer activities include: Chair Board of Trustees of a multi-language Church and President or Vice-President of three HOA Board of Directors. Currently, I am an advisor/fundraiser with the Stanford University BMT Patient and Family assistance fund. I reside in Oakhurst CA with my father and two sisters.
